Have you ever tried to touch a star?

Reaching, stretching, straining…

Attempting to grasp something you can never touch.

Have you ever tried to feel a cloud?

Reaching, stretching, straining…

Attempting to sense something you can never touch.

Have you ever tried to race the wing?

Reaching, stretching, straining…

Attempting to beat something you can never touch.

Have you ever tried to listen to the trees?

Reaching, stretching, straining…

Attempting to hear something you can never touch.

I wrote this poem in 1998, it detailed my feelings at the time, how I felt that my life was slipping through my fingers, that nothing was within my grasp or control.

This photograph was taken in Toledo, Ohio. I feel it works with this poem very well; it is blurred, it feels hectic.

I feel that my decision to create erotic art under the name Conceptually Black allows me freedom to share my feelings through images as well as words.
