As many of my friends know, I am a movie junkie, I love watching movies, both mainstream and indie. I will be highlighting some of my favorite movies here.
I recently watched the movie “The Assassination of Jesse James: by the Coward Robert Ford“. The story moves slowly, not built upon action but rather showing the inner thoughts and turmoil. If you want non-stop action then look elsewhere, this movie is great because it portrays a different side of Jesse James and Robert Ford. It shows they were haunted deep from what they did, it shows they struggled with their decisions, and all of this is shown strongest by how far the actors went to portray it.
The camera work and lighting are amazing throughout the movie, many shots are inspiring and simply amazing.
I was blown away by the performances of Casey Affleck as Robert Ford, proving that he is obviously the Affleck that can act. Sam Rockwell delivered an amazingly haunting performance as Charley Ford, you actually felt his pain. Of course Brad Pitt gave an amazing portrayal of Jesse James, showing a different side, a haunted, dark, brooding side.
I highly recommend this movie to anyone looking for a movie that shines as how to use a camera and quality acting to draw a viewer in.
